step by step
Some (change) paths seem to go on and on and on. Seemingly a never-ending slog.
It happens. Sometimes we need to go the distance. Looking to for small things along the way might help.
We had camped camped at the outskirts of Torres del Paine National Park prior to our planned Circuito O and needed to cover a good 20km on foot to meet the actual Circuito. With full backpacks (beginning of a multi-day hike after all) and middling Patagonian weather (read a fast cycle of sun, storm, sleet, and horizontal rain - repeat), motivation quickly dipped. The scenery was often flat (except for the two stream crossings on foot) and the mountains stayed stubbornly distant.
Looking out for patches of flowers and the few rays of sunshine helped an awful lot! And ok, the hope that after that final river crossing in a boat the rifugio would have a spot by the fire four our drenched selves. Spoiler alert - they did.
Keep looking for the fun distractions - and move step by step!
